Heating Engineer (Gas Safe + OFTEC)
Rosebourne is a bathroom and hot water business run by Will Gaze, WaterSafe approved and G3 qualified, with 2,500+ jobs behind it. It does not do gas or oil work and does not pretend to. Half the houses round here are on oil, the rest on gas, and every bathroom and cylinder job throws up a boiler question Will has to hand to someone else.
This role changes that. You would be the first heating engineer. Rosebourne registers as a Gas Safe business, and with OFTEC, when you join, with you as the registered engineer, and the heating work is yours to build.
Where we are today - No gas or oil work. None. Boiler work is referred to a Gas Safe engineer Will trusts - A customer base that already asks for it: bathrooms, cylinders and the wet side of heating across Andover, Marlborough and Hungerford - Will and Harry, the apprentice. You would be the third person
What You'll Do - Gas and oil boiler installation, servicing and repair - Landlord gas safety certificates (CP12) once the business is registered - Central heating design and installation alongside Will's cylinder and bathroom work - Fault-finding on both fuels, because rural work means both - Help Will and Harry learn the heating side properly
Why the pay is where it is Rural, both fuels, first hire, and the person the heating side gets built around. That is worth paying above the local adverts, and it will be expected to show in the work.
- Gas Safe registered engineer: ACS CCN1, CENWAT as a minimum (CKR1, HTR1 a bonus)
- OFTEC registered: OFT101, OFT105E, ideally OFT600A (tanks)
- Five years or more on domestic gas and oil heating
- Comfortable with Worcester, Vaillant, Grant and Firebird kit
- Full UK driving licence
- Straight with customers, tidy in their homes, and willing to teach
- Salary £45,000-£55,000: the top of the local market, on purpose
- Company van and fuel card
- Gas Safe and OFTEC business registration paid for, with you as the registered engineer
- Manufacturer training (Worcester, Vaillant, Grant)
